Taylor has "Phelps Phever." We have joined the rest of the nation in awe struck appreciation of his athletic ability, but Taylor has developed a great hero worship for Michael Phelps. The other day at his cousins birthday party at the swimming pool he did a front flip off the diving board because he was Phelps and was playing Olympics. He watched as many of his events as he could and even watched the interviews after the events. Go USA!

That is so great - my son was about Taylor's age in 1976 and he watched all the Olympics - back then it was summer and winter combined, so it was lots of sports. For his 6th birthday that year, we got to go watch Dorothy Hamil skate at the Salt Palace.
Then he decided that he wanted to be an Olympic swimmer. The next year we moved to an apartment that had a swimming pool and he tried to swim all summer long.
He's 37 now and still can't swim - he almost drowned when he was 17 because he had so little body fat that he sinks instead of floats, so it is a sore subject with him, but I remember how much he wanted to be an Olympic swimmer.
Of course, for Alicia, it was Mary Lou Retton. We had the little leotard from Sears just like Mary Lou's and she took Gymnastics from this lady who had a couple mats and a balance beam. I'll have to post the pictures. hehehe She'll love that.
